I really liked the first and thought the second was even better!! I love the style of writing and crazy plot twists. These books are It is my new favourite book and I even thought it was better than the harry potter books.
Book 1. Girl Online. She seems light hearted, funny and incredibly positive; and her books reflect that. Even though I did not particularly enjoy this book, it does not mean that I do not like the author, or judge her in any way. Just putting that out there. Slightly more in depth reviews will come on MY BLOG of my recent reads, so go check it out.
This was my overall reaction throughout the whole book. It was There were a few main - some small, some bigger- issues that annoyed me during this book: 1. The over use of exclamation points If you saw my last update you'd know it was driving me CRAZZZZY. It felt like every sentence ended in one and maybe that's just me and my weirdness but it still was irritating AF. This is an example of a page with 5 exclamation points!!!!! Callum was a pretty suspicious character, who always seemed to have some anger issues, for example, he would clench his fists, give dirty looks, hesitate, say something stupid and suddenly change his mood however the book never addressed what the hell was wrong with him!
Major plot hole there. The plot. It wasn't as good as the last books. There was no drastic change in scenery, as the character didn't go overseas or anything. The only changes of location were from Brighton to London or at one point to Scotland, unlike the last book that had a number of different countries.
Basically, I think that going to a vastly different country would have improved the otherwise pretty dull plot. No twist The Girl Online Series naturally does not have the most exciting plot twists, nor the most subtle, however they are pretty fun. In this book, though, I felt like the two major twist in the story were either too obvious or just did not work. So those were the main issues. I did enjoy some of the book though: Like the new places and layout of Brighton Boho Gelato sounds amazing!
I feel like with my recent non- stop fantasy spur, my reading expectations and level has increased, therefore I think this book would definitely be more suited to the younger reader. It was enjoyable, but the small things mentioned above were real let downs. Anyway, have you read this series? Did you find the same things annoying? Do you like watching Zella's video's?

Girl Online Going Solo!!! I love these books. I would say they are my guilty pleasure but screw it, I don't feel guilty about it. I'm so glad she wrote a third book, not because I care about if Noah and Penny were getting back together or not.
I wanted to read more from Penny, I wanted to see how she would evolve and what would happen on her journey. I love Penny as a character so much, she is just so freaking relatable. And even though there is a huge age difference between me and her, I actual Girl Online Going Solo!!! And even though there is a huge age difference between me and her, I actually feel like I grew with her in each book. Just like her I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and in the first two books, reading about her struggles and how she dealt with them, I couldn't imagine ever getting as far as she has gotten.
Now, reading the third book and seeing how she is not over them of course but how she handles it, and looking at myself and seeing how far I have actually come this year, it feels amazing.
So yes, the characters aren't anything new, the story isn't anything new and earth-shattering. But it's real and at least for me, it's something important and helpful. So having that rant out of the way, lets talk about the actual book and the story in this one.
It's the third book, so there's probably some spoilers, so beware danger! New characters!!!! I love love love her. She's just such a special snowflake.
And I love that she met Penny and that Penny helped her out. Now for one second did I think she would turn out to be the bad guy. Not when Megan is in the mix. Can I just say that I hate her with a burning passion. Screw the apology at the end, she sucks. I think in the second book she kinda grew on my, but no, screw that. I really liked Callum in the beginning but as soon as the first date happened, he was giving me a weird vibe and nope, didn't need that guy. I still don't care for Penny and Noah.
No disrespect to everyone who loves them, they just aren't for me. But he makes Penny happy and I'm all for that, so I will deal with that. On the friendship front, tho. Penny and Elliot. Oh, they went through quite a bit in that book, especially due to Elliot's problems at home.
I felt so bad for him and he really scared me towards the end. Glad that things worked out for him, kinda. But it will be better in the end.
Also, I'm so very happy that Elliot and Alex are still going strong. These two are just so damn cute. I don't think that a 4th book is necessary. I would love one about Elliot, to be completely honest.
If she decides to write another book in this series, I would still buy it, cause PENNY!!!!! But I would also love to read something completely different from her.
Jan 11, Maria Falconi rated it it was ok. Ok so I really liked the first book in this series, the second book I enjoyed, but this book was just about one of the most cliché things I've read, kinda pointless and a bit of a let down but I'm being nice cause I gave it two stars.
I found the first big chunk of this book extremely boring since it was basically just Penny trying to be independent until she meets her new boy toy and decides that she needs a new boyfriend, and then eventually just breaks up with him when Noah comes back we a Ok so I really liked the first book in this series, the second book I enjoyed, but this book was just about one of the most cliché things I've read, kinda pointless and a bit of a let down but I'm being nice cause I gave it two stars.
I found the first big chunk of this book extremely boring since it was basically just Penny trying to be independent until she meets her new boy toy and decides that she needs a new boyfriend, and then eventually just breaks up with him when Noah comes back we all knew that was gonna happen, no shocker there.
Another thing that was annoying about this book, was that Penny was just so oblivious to everything the entire time, to point where I started rolling my eyes at how dumb it was getting. There were places at the end of chapters that tried to leave you with anticipation, but everything that happened was just so predictable.
And going "solo" was the worst title because most of it was about boy drama. Apparently Penny can't go a couple months without a boyfriend witch just kinda ruined the entire point of the title. It all just seemed really cliché and dumb. I liked some bits of it but I was quite bored for a lot of it. I do not hate this book, but I'm far from loving it. I'm a Zoella fan but this really wasn't one of my favourites of hers, just my opinion.
Jul 16, Rachel Ellis rated it did not like it. Will these books ever end? Failing that I will still read it to see if it's the same as the other two Jan 25, Sue Gerhardt Griffiths rated it really liked it Shelves: books. A fantastic finish to this 3 book series! The author raised some weighty talking points regarding anxiety, fear, and friendship… something a young adult might relate to.

It was enjoyable but I liked it the least of all three. Also the title isn't really compatible with the story because Penny isn't even going solo. However my tolerance level towards Penny and Noah together dangles quite above the average so that's fine.
I'm not sure if there's going to be another book since it doesn't imply that this one is the last one anywhere, plus, it's called a series instead of a trilogie but that doesn't always mean anything of course. Yet I do have the feeling it's all rounded up?
If Zoe keeps writing now it might get a little stretched too thin. But of course, this is coming from a years old so that might explain but should there be another book I do think I wouldn't be able to stop myself from buying it. Because I do enjoy the series although they're simple, which is fine, not every book needs to blow my mind.
As long as they are enjoyable and I don't feel like I've wasted my time, it's all good. Which is the case with this series. Jul 17, Angy Potter - Collector of Book Boyfriends rated it it was amazing. Last year, Girl Online On Tour was published and I loved it too, but I was left with a sad face because of how it ended.
SPOILER ALERT view spoiler [Penny and Noah broke up. Anyway, enough about my rambling…. Oh My God this story was even more extraordinaire than I expected, and I expected a lot already. I loved the plot in this book, the development of all the characters was amazing. Penny for example, was more mature, and she found out what was really important in her life and the limits she had in order to not compromise herself.
Elliot, Oh My God, I love that kid. She was sweet and talented and amazingly forgiven. It was PERFECT!!! Jul 15, Elle Presser marked it as to-read. ZOELLA IS FINALLY GETTING RID OF FREAKING NOAH. For once, I liked the second book the best. If I discouraged you, I might be taking away your chance from discovering your newest favorite book. This is collection of my thoughts and opinions on the book. Look at what others are saying, and decide from there. Look, the Girl Online trilogy has never been my favorite series. There were a million cliches and I had problems with the romance.
But this trilogy was kind of like my experience with The Princess Diaries—they were books I could always turn to when I needed something light and fluffy. Going Solo did not have the charm and cuteness that the first two books had.
This was definitely my least favorite book in the trilogy—and one of my least favorite endings to any series. Then I did this. Even the climax, with Elliot running away, was too rushed and anticlimactic. But both subplots with Callum and Noah were somehow still SO boring to read about.
With Callum, he just felt unnecessary to the story. He was there for the first half of the book, and then he just disappeared once Noah showed back up. He was just there because…Penny felt like she needed to move on?
To create romantic drama which there was hardly of, by the way? You didnât know they were âa thingâ? It made me think that Penny was actually 13 or at least a pretty immature 15 year old. Here are a few samples: âI glance at Ollie, wondering if maybe I havenât woken up yet and everything thatâs happened so far has just been a dream. I pinch my leg under the table to checkâ a little too hard.
â Who ACTUALLY pinches themselves to see if theyâre in a dream? Do people really do that? âIâd expected the skyscrapers but I hadnât expected them to be quite so sky-scraping. As my excitement starts to build, I feel the urge to dance.
I grab the remote and turn on the TV. MTV is playing nonstop Christmas tunes. I start dancing around the room to âSanta Claus is Coming to Town. â I dance and dance until Iâve shaken off the horrible residue from my dream. Then I collapse down onto my bed and grin at my doll. âHappy Christmas,â I whisper to her breathlessly. Okay, you want to have a dance party? Thatâs fine. Iâm sure people do it.
But for me, this was just one more thing that made the book feel childish. And clickâI feel another part of me slotting into place with him.
â Penny and super-handsome-rockstar-dude know each other for like ONE DAY before theyâre already wondering how the hell theyâll survive without each other. They start planning their long distance relationship, working out Skype calls and visits⦠After ONE DAY!
Even Pennyâs friend catches onto this: âThen how can you be in love with this guy if you only just met him? In this case, it didnât. It was SO OBVIOUS what the ending was going to be, and yet Penny didnât see it. Thatâs what frustrated me.
The MC was completely blindsided, but I saw it coming a million miles away. I hate being so out of sync with a character. Donât pretend. Donât be fake. Donât judge. Itâs about her finally being able to be herself. Hereâs the thing. Itâs anonymous so that she doesnât have to be afraid to be herself. She can be completely honest without people she ACTUALLY knows judging her. I get that. Sheâs afraid to be herself in âreal lifeâ so she does it online.
But then the book is all about her facing those fears and finding her confidence in real life. So in the end when her anonymity gets exposed and everyone knows that Penny is Girl Online, I thought sheâd deal with it.
But instead, sheâs HORRIFIED and immediately shuts down her blog, saying, âI donât have the anonymity of Girl Online to hide behind. I donât think so. and other times it would be alright. Some people suspect this book was ghost written⦠I donât know about that. Iâm not going to make any assumptions, but I can see why people would think that. Or at least why theyâd suspect it was REALLY heavily edited.
The writing just wasnât consistent. The worst bit by far was the beginning. It was imperfect, childish, and predictable. As I said before, maybe part of this is all my fault. Iâm not the target audience and I expected this book to be something it didnât turn out to be at all. I wanted a mature MC but I got a pretty immature one instead. That might be perfectly fine for a year old audience, but it wasnât fine for me. And maybe thatâs on ME and not on the author.
But anyway, all that being said, I didnât hate this book. The beginning did feel very amateurish with the over usage of exclamation marks, but the book got a bit better as it went on.
Even though it was full of predictable endings and insta-love, part of me kind of enjoyed it. It was a cute, fluffy read. Itâs nothing ground-breaking, nothing intense, nothing soul-shattering, but it was kind of fun and fluffy. Sometimes thatâs all you need. html First of all, I would like to say that I am a HUGE Zoella fan. That said, I'm going to be as honest as I possibly can in this review. So don't click off just yet. So this book is all about Penny.
An introverted photographer with a gay best friend and a problem with anxiety. One day, she follows her parents to New York for a wedding that her parents are planning and she bumps into a boy named Noah. Noah and Penny quickly fall in love but then, there are so many things going against them and they have to manoeuvre around them.
Then, Penny discovers that Noah has been keeping a pretty huge secret and things start to fall apart. Now I enjoyed this book.
I felt like it was a real throwback in the right direction. I've missed reading books where families are perfect and when you know there will be that big happy ending even though there's lots of chaos. In a lot of ways, people will find this book to be pretentious and a bit too optimistic. But here's the thing. This book was written for a younger audience. I think it's ridiculous that people come to this book expecting a Stephen King novel and then walking away disappointed and angry that it wasn't.
I mean, when Girl Online was first announced, I knew that I was going to read it but I also knew that I couldn't expect to be reading a book that would be anything like the books I usually read. Just look that that book cover! That said, I think the themes that Zoe discusses in this novel are so important and very mature. The main character in the book gets panic attacks. As a person who suffers with anxiety and who has experienced panic attacks, I think this book really spoke to me.
I felt understood and I was so happy that Zoe wrote this into her book because it really brings attention to this mental health problem that usually goes unnoticed by most. Considering her fan base, just think of how many people now have something to base what they are feeling on.
Just think of how many people have learnt something new and who are better for it. I know this is a book review and I feel bad for doing this but I feel its really important to address the controversy around this book because there is just too much of it. So shortly after the release of the book, people started suspecting that the book was ghost written because the acknowledgements page mentioned a known YA writer, Siobhan Curtis.
That week, the publishers also mentioned officially that Zoe had help with writing the book. But the scope of that help was not discussed. So as you can imagine, the Internet blew up and poor Zoe was forced to stop doing 'Vlogmas' and take a break off the Internet. And following that, Alfie Deyes decided to take a few days off Youtube as well though that was probably just to protect her and not exactly what he wanted considering how much he whined about being excited to get back to vlogging.
Zoe said on Twitter that she did get help but that everyone needs help when they try something new. And that is what I believe. I believe that Siobhan came alongside Zoe to help her here and there. Maybe she had more help then what is normally given to authors but that would only be because this is her first novel and she is not a professional writer.
I hate that people are starting rumours and controversy about her book simply because she is a Youtuber. Everyone is bashing her over the head simply because they are annoyed that she got that book deal when there are other authors out there who have been trying for years to break into the industry.
Zoe has always wanted to be a writer. She even wrote a book when she was a kid. Zoe was not stealing a spot away from anyone. She was simply testing the waters with a hobby.
Her different inflexions had a distinctive tone, making the accent thicker or posher, depending to the character she was speaking for. My favorite part of the whole narration was when Penny was in a park and there were some guys speaking French and it was flawless. I wish more authors who has main characters with British accent in their books, looked for this girl, because she is really talented and her narration is really natural.

I'm a sucker for these books. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm actually happy about it. So much like the other two, this book wasn't a difficult read but it was an extremely enjoyable one and tackled lots of issues that are relevant in society today.
Including old people tutting at young people for being on their phones. That was THE BEST. Hashtag, Team Internet. All in all, a really comforting story with lots of light twists and turns that make for a very pleasing reading experience. And the 5 stars is purely because I fucking adore Zoe Sugg.
